History

The mission begins

1977-1983

On October 19, 1977, a group of concerned professionals with links to the substance abuse world created the Middlesex Regional Alcoholism Treatment Center (MRATC).  With a small office in Watertown, Massachusetts and program facility in Waltham, the MRATC was a stand-alone alcohol detoxification program that provided various services including detoxification, Short Term Intensive Inpatient Treatment (STIIT) and Transitional Care for nearly two decades.

Stationed on the grounds of the former Middlesex County Hospital, the MRATC was strategically positioned to cultivate relationships with an array of local service providers, including at least one that would later be acquired by the company after several years.
